This is good if you need to store your food scraps temporarily until you dump them into your composter. But the lip design gets in the way when you dump the food material and it gets all gooey and that is difficult to clean.
You basically need to put it into the dish washer which seems like a waste of resources in the name of composting.
I should have gotten the stainless steel version which is more expensive but looks a lot easier to clean ... Read More

I love my new Pinxon 1 gallon Ceramic Compost pail. It sets right on my kitchen counter and its creamy white color and stylish appearance fit right in with my other decor. It is so easy and handy to put all my kitchen scraps right in as they are produced and then carry my little kitchen composter out each night to empty into my backyard composter! Great buy.

As other reviewers have noted, the capacity of this pail is inadequate for a busy kitchen. But I also don't like the fact that the inner lip overhangs the pail, so when you try to pull a full bag out, it catches. The handle is stiff and doesn't fall to the side easily. We managed to use this for almost 8 months before we accidently dropped the lid (which isn't hinged). Since it is ceramic (and heavy), it broke. I am now actively shopping for a less-fashionable, but more functional and less fragile ... Read More

Love this compost bin for the kitchen counter. I previously had a plastic tan and white bin for under the kitchen sink, but it spent most of its time on the kitchen counter, since thats where the kitchen scraps are. It was a big eye sore. This white creamic bin is much easier on the eyes, easy to wipe clean or wash. Plastic compost bag liners fit nicely inside of this, but I do find I have to rubberband the bag to the ceramic pot, to help keep the bag up where it belongs, and not sneaking down the ... Read More

I am sorry I did not buy a plastic or stainless steel compose bucket. This does look good on the counter, but one worries about breaking it. The replacement "filters" don't work that well and are overpriced.
